Career Prospects for Ultrasound Technicians in Ohio

With several large cities, Ohio offers a wide variety of employment and career options.  The average Ultrasound Technician salary in Ohio is $50,000 per year, with some making upwards of $80,000 per year.  With opportunities in neurology, cardiology, as well as the more commonly known obstetrics, sonographers are used in a wide range of fields of medicine, which makes jobs plentiful.  With a degree or certificate from an accredited program, you are well on your way to a long and successful career.

Finding the Best Ultrasound Technician Schools in Ohio

It is important to choose an accredited program because only they will provide you with both the classroom and clinical training necessary to allow you to take the ARDMS exam.  ARDMS is the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography, and is the most recognized licensor of Ultrasound Technicians in the United States.
Being certified by the ARDMS does not guarantee employment, but it does open doors that otherwise would not be available to you.  Uncertified Ultrasound Techs typically work at private clinics, and usually work part time or as independent contractors.  It is rare that hospitals or large medical groups will hire sonographers that have not passed the ARDMS exam.
